Neuro-optometry is a specific area of vision care that involves assessing how the brain processes information sent from the eyes. When communication between the brain and eyes is disrupted due to injury or disease, vision problems can occur and last for months or years without intervention.
If you have experienced a traumatic brain injury (concussion) or stroke and are experiencing persistent symptoms such as:
• Dizziness and nausea
• Double vision
• Light sensitivity
• Difficulty with reading/computer tasks
• Poor spatial judgement/depth perception
• Intolerance to grocery stores and shopping malls
Please contact us to book an appointment for an evaluation.
A vision rehabilitation program may include customized glasses incorporating coloured tints and/or prisms to correct spatial distortions, and a therapy plan involving both clinic-based and home-based activities. The treatment is closely coordinated along with your health care team ie. Physician, occupational therapist and physiotherapist.
A regular exam (following the brain injury or stroke) is required prior to the neuro-optometric assessment.
